A STUDY ON RETINITIS PIGMENTOSA AS A CAUSE OF BLINDNESS IN PATIENTS ATTENDING REGIONAL EYE HOSPITAL, KURNOOL FOR BLIND CERTIFICATE

Aim: To study Retinitis Pigmentosa as a cause of blindness in patients attending Regional Eye Hospital, Kurnool for blind certificate. Methods: A total 1020 all age groups to certificate during the period August 2020 2022 were included and examined which include visual acuity testing using Snellen chart, refraction, slit lamp biomicroscopy,intra ocular pressure measurement Goldmann Applanation Tonometer,fundus examinationwith indirect ophthalmoscope, field Humphrey analyser. Fundus picture was taken Zeiss fundus camera. Patients having retinal pathology exclusively others excluded. Results: Out patients, 40 had with involvement both eyes. Of these 23 males 17 females indicating that more commonly affected than females. 6 100% disability, 10 75% 24 40% disability. Conclusion: is one among non-treatable results due consanguineous marriages it an inherited eye disease.
